Once you’ve had your fun of the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, the Acropolis, and Pantheon, you’ll be ready to settle down and get an authentic taste of Greek life. Glyfada is one of the capital city’s suburbs and stretches from the foothills of the Hymettus Mountains until the Saronic Gulf. Welcome to Athen’s Hippest Neighborhood. Glyfada is widely considered the coolest neighborhood in Athens. Although we don’t usually consider suburbs on the top of the list, Glyfada tops the charts as great destination becomes its combines the cosmopolitan flair of Athens with the colorful seasides neighborhoods and streets by the sea. It’s a great place to wander around and sample local specialty dishes like the cheese-based dessert Saganaki and fava.

It’s All About Enjoying the Ocean. In the summer months, the main reason people have to Glyfada is that it's incredible beach access. One of the local favorites is the Balux Pool Seaside. With your own boat, you can easily make it out to some the incredible beaches in surrounding areas like Voula, Varkiza and even journey all the way down the coast to the village of Sounio. At the top of our list is the amazingly clean, refreshing and deep waters of Kape in Sounio. It’s such a peaceful escape from it all.
