San José del Cabo

San José del Cabo

Most people don’t realize that when they are heading to Cabo, they are actually flying into Los Cabos International Airport which refers to the two towns located nearby. Cabo San Lucas is the one with the reputation of being a spring breakers paradise and a total tourist trap. And while it might be fun for a night or two, the savvier travelers always choose to spend their time in San Jose del Cabo. It’s more authentic, it’s more charming and, best of all, it features much better cuisine and cocktails and none of the mess of Cabo San Lucas.

Set off from Marina Puerto Los Cabo. All real boating expeditions begin from the private Puerto Los Cabos. It’s located just a short drive away from downtown and near some of the new luxury developments. The marina is the perfect combination of simple, easy to navigate yet contains everything you need to ensure you have a great boating adventure. It’s well-staffed and full of experienced captains. From here, you head up the cape into the prime territory for snorkeling and for some of the best fishing in the world.

Taste the Modern Flavors of Mexico. San Jose is brimming with amazing restaurants. Whether you looking to enjoy the modern Mexican-Italian fusion of Habanero’s which strikingly has few menu options with the famous spicy flavor or the amazing tacos of La Lupita, one of the trendiest restaurants in town, you’ll be sure to find some great eats. Just be sure for La Lupita that you book a reservation as far in advance as possible because they are booked up almost every day of the week.

High Season, Low Season, All Seasons. Like many destinations in this part of the world, Cabo’s high season runs from November to April making it the perfect place to escape the winter blues. As such, prices run much higher during this time but the weather is absolutely perfect. Expect daytime high temperatures in the 80s with bright, sunny skies and lows in 70’s which is just perfect for a night on the beach. Even during the summer months, the weather is still very good just a touch on the hot spot. August and September tend to be the most humid so just be sure to avoid going around them, but you can find some particularly amazing deals on resorts and boats if you're’ willing to stand the heat a little. San Jose is an amazing town, it’s a little quieter than San Lucas, but you always head down there for an evening and enjoy the luxury of being in one of Mexico’s best towns for the rest of your vacation!
