Split

Come to experience the Dalmatian lifestyle at its purest. Split, the country’s second-largest city is renowned for both its ancient treasures and modern charms. Inside the city are the remains of Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive still existing structures. History, culture, food, fun all wrapped in the warm Mediterranean climate and attitude await you in this incredible seaside destination.

Explore the Split Old Town. Split is ancient city dating back to the 4th century. The oldest part of the city is Diocletian’s Palace which was built impossible for his retirement and originally measured nearly 200 by 200 meters with 20 meters high walls. But the palace is just as much a part of everyday life now as it is was then. Today it’s a flourishing district with stone cobbled streets, secret alleyways and all kinds of hidden gems. It’s a true treat to wander and enjoy.

Time to Go Island Hopping. Until recently, Split was actually just a transit area to the nearby islands in the region. Although the city is one of the most visited places in the country now, there are still plenty of reasons to charter a boat and head out to the charming islands. Most people head out to Solta, Drvenik Veli, Brac, and Vis. These islands vary in size, but each has their own unique charms and fun treasures to discover. Be sure to allow a least a couple days to reach Vis and explore it because it is a large island with a lot of amazing things to do!

Get Out on the Open Sea. Split is known for its stunning coastlines and islands which make it a key watersports destination. The area is also famous for being an excellent place for a little sunset kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. Charter a course for Marjan Hill, which is the perfect place for a sunset tour and a little swimming, cliff jumping, snorkeling or just a glass of wine and an astounding view.

Discover a Different Side of the Mediterranean. With its great climate, culture, and food, Croatia is a quickly growing tourist destination and Split is easily accessible by train, airport or bus. From here, it’s a short ride to the marina where you can hire your own character and have the perfect Mediterranean adventure. If you are looking for a little taste of everything, then Split is the perfect place for you.
