Alimos

Just like when you head to any big city from New York to Tokyo and London, Athens’s is all about districts. These days, one of the most famous parts of the city is Alimos which is located just south of the city in the Attica Region. Alimos is an ancient town that began as a fishing village several millennia ago. It was one of the most important regions of ancient Athens and within the city, you can find the ruins of Euonymus Amphitheater which featured one of the most unique designs in the world. Today the city is an incredible blend of ancient Greek artifacts, middle ages style stone houses and modern touches perfectly combined together to form an unbeatable vacation spot.

Take a Break from It All. Alimos is often paired with its sister district of Glyfada. Although not quite a chic as Glyfada, Alimos makes up for it with its unbeatable charm. It’s got a much more laid-back feel and is a good place to kick back, relax and enjoy the charming cafes and seaside views. Most people take the short hike up to Pani Hill which provides breathtaking views both of the district along with the rest of Athens.

Get Ready for an Aquatic Adventure. Once you’ve had an opportunity to take a little time and relax (and maybe recover from the jet-lag), you’ll be ready to get out on the water. Alimos fishing legacy can still be felt today and the marina and port area are still home to a bustling fishing trade. Whether you an avid sport fisher or just like to casually cast out a line, you’ll enjoy chartering a boat and heading out onto the Mediterranean. It’s a great place to reel in some big fish and cook it up local style with dill, parsley and all kinds of local spices giving it that distinct Greek flavor.

Fishing and So Much More. Alimos isn’t just about fishing though. It’s all a great place to begin your exploration of the Adriatic. Greece is home to over thousands of islands of different shapes and sizes and there’s no better place to launch off from than here. Most people begin a course from the city and head due south to some of the larger islands including the world-famous Crete along with small ones such as Kia, Katniss, and Giaros. Big or small each Greek island is filled with its own unique charms ready to delight you and the best way to experience them is by your own private charter!
