Herradura

Herradura

Herradura is a charming beach town just north of Jaco in the Puntarenas province. Until just a few years ago, it was relatively undiscovered except by locals but with its close proximity to Jaco and being only an hour away from the country capital of San Jose, it’s now become a bit more popular. Herradura means “horseshoe” which perfectly describe the shape of the grey sand bay lined by coconut trees and tasty seafood restaurants.

The Perfect Place for a Day on the Water. When you charter a boat from Herradura, you are in one of the best places in Costa Rica for day of fun and adventure. Because of its calm waters, Herradura Beach is considered one of the best beaches for swimming in the country, and also great for a variety of other water sports. The area is also well known for sport-fishing and even amateurs have been known to frequently reel in large catches.

In the Water and on the Land. Costa Rica is famous for being one of the best ecotourism destinations in the world. As you sail around the region, you will come across many incredible points of interest. Carara National Park is one of the last transitional forests remaining on the continent is a great place to see mangroves, Crocodiles and a huge variety of birds. As you make your way from dry to wetter regions, you’ll be how much the environment can change in just a short amount of time!

A Great Romantic Getaway. Since Herradura, is located only an hour from San Jose, getting there is a breeze. You can easily rent a car or take a shuttle over to the small town in no time at all. After you’ve had fun out in the water and in the national parks, be sure to check out Villas Caletas, a French colonial inspired hotel with beautiful old-world style architecture set in the lush backdrops of Costa Rica. It’s truly a majestic site.

The Right Time is Now. Although Herradura has grown in popularity recently, it still is relatively undiscovered and a great place for a relaxing vacation. Even in high season, you can still find plenty of space on the beach to kick back and relax. So, if you are looking for authenticity and combination of natural beauty than be sure to head here for your next trip.
