Mykonos

Widely recognized as on the best travel destinations not only in Greece, but in Europe, Mykonos is one of the few places on earth you’ll find college students, Hollywood celebrities, and families all rubbing shoulders in the seemingly endless Greek summer. This incredible island destination is easily reachable via its airport located just a few kilometers from the center of town or by cruise or ferry ship. In the high season, there are direct flights from most major cities in Europe making it an easy addition to your vacation itinerary.

Beaches Galore. In Mykonos, it’s all about the beaches. A truly unique place, Mykonos offers stunning beaches on all sides of the islands. Ella and Super Paradise are a couple of the more popular choices on the South Coast while if you are looking for something a little bit more low-key then head over to the East Coast and enjoy Kalo Livadia and Lia which are quieter and more local style.

Head to Delos. Delos is one of the most famous places of Greek mythology, said to be the birthplace of the gods Artemis and Apollo, and a must-see for anyone headed to Mykonos. This island is technically uninhabited as only archaeologists are allowed to stay overnight there and is packed with treasures from Greece’s long history. While there are a few daily boats over to the island, having your own charter boat gives you the freedom to work within your own schedule. You could even watch the sunset over the ancient monuments, a truly unforgettable sight.

Watersports Adventure.  Mykonos is also known as the “island of the winds” and attracts sailors and surfers from across the world. Its beaches are also home to some of the best windsurfing in the world. And, of course, an island with such an extensive history makes for some great diving. Most locals recommend September as the best month because the water is warm and there is good visibility on the seafloor.

Food, Fun, and Excitement. As a culinary center, there is so much great food to try! You can sample your own fresh catch from your charter boat or have it cooked up local style along with kopanisti, a soft, peppered cheese and the variety of cured meats and local wine for the region. If you are looking for that perfect combination of adventure, culture, food, and excitement than there is no better place for you to go than the island of Mykonos.
