Cambrils
Although not super well known to travelers, Cambrils has a lot more going on then you just might realize. More than just your usual beach town, it has a variety of unique districts. Split down the middle by the Riera de Alforja River, the town features two main sections— the marina/port and the old town. With seven kilometers of Coastline, this walkable town has plenty of shopping, restaurants, and fun and is a great place to begin a nautical adventure.
Get Ready to Enjoy the Marina. Cambrils is truly a boater’s destination. The marina and port areas are widely considered the main part of the town. This is because the city traces its roots to a long maritime heritage. On the two stretches beach by the marina, you’ll find a huge range of seafront restaurants featuring great outdoor seating areas where you can watch the boats come in and get a taste of the freshest local fish. Be sure to take a stroll of the Moll de Ponent and the Far Vermell.
Set Sail for an Adventure around Spain. With so many different boats in the harbor, it’s clear that Cambrils is any kind of boat lover’s paradise. However, if you are up to it, it is one of the sailing capitals of the world. With its steady, calm winds it is a great place to try your hand at a little old school nautical adventure. OF course, these winds also provide the perfect conditions for paragliding and other watersports so be sure to leave plenty of room open in your schedule.
Discover History in the Cambrils Old Town. Less than a mile inland, you’ll hit the famed Old Town. The other most prominent district of Cambrils. This charming area still holds many of its quaint charms and features great museums, shops and so much more. Be sure to head to La Parellada and La Pallissa, the two zones which feature gems like the organic Agrobotiga market and the Ermita de la Mare de Deu del Cam.
A Different Side of Spain. Most travelers to Spain head to Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza and while these destinations are fantastic, Cambrils give you a more low key, old school taste of Spanish living. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and enjoy the relaxed pace of the ocean winds, good fun, and a well-deserved afternoon siesta.
